~23rd APRIL~
In 1995, UNESCO declared 23rd of April the World Book Day.It is a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and the same year of 1616 both Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare died.
This became a nationwide celebration in Spain in 1926,as per suggestion from the Book Association of Barcelona.Since then it has become a very lively and popular celebration where millions of people flock to the bookshops to participate in the organized events and but books. But nowhere is it more beautifully celebrated than in the Spanish region of Catalonia, where on 23rd April, Saint George's Day, a rose is given as a gift for each book received.
